How delimitation could impact 5 key Lok Sabha face-offs in Assam | India News

The upcoming Lok Sabha polls will be the first electoral battle Assam will witness after the delimitation exercise was carried out in the northeastern state last year. While the total number of assembly and Lok Sabha seats remains unchanged at 126 and 14 respectively, significant changes have been made in terms of geographical boundaries of the constituencies.

According to the Election Commission of India, which carried out the exercise, 19 assembly and two Lok Sabha seats are now reserved for scheduled tribes (STs) while one parliamentary and nine assembly constituencies for scheduled castes (SCs).
