Hampton will hold their FFA Chapter Banquet on Saturday, April 20.

The York High School Greenhouse will be open for York FFA Plant Sales on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

A Macrame Workship with Cindy McClellan will be held on Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Espressions in Aurora.

Narnia Book Club 2 will be held at Espressions in Aurora on Saturday, April 20 starting at 9:30 a.m. We are reading “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” by C.S. Lewis.

The Lively Livestock 4-H Club will meet on Sunday, April 21 at 1 p.m. at Harmony Nursery and Daylily Farm. Jenni will be giving a succulent workshop and the kids will be planting a container for the fair.

The quarterly voter’s meeting will be held on Sunday, April 21 at 8 p.m. at St. Peter Church in Gresham. All members are encouraged to attend.

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the first Mennonite immigrants to the Henderson area in 1874, Henderson Mennonite Heritage Park will be featuring an evening for guests to observe the Anabaptist experience on Sunday, April 21 starting at 6:30 p.m. Living the Anabaptist Story will be an event where history will come alive, making this a Sunday evening at the park no one will forget. Attendees will meet Martin Luther, Menno Simons and others while viewing reenactments of the early Anabaptist movement along with observing a confession of faith baptism and experiencing the apprehension and treatment of Anabaptists. A social of coffee and cookies will follow. Donations appreciated and golf carts will be available.

The children will get a transition book to take home and read throughout the summer to get ready for Kindergarten. It will include pictures of the people and places we visited. On Tuesday, April 23, Runza® Restaurants will conduct the 7th annual Feed the Need fundraiser. Ten percent of sales from all locations all day will benefit hunger & food insecurity related efforts in each Runza® community. Over the past six years, more than $213,000 has been donated in addition to raising awareness of this important issue. In Runza® territory, 1 in 9 children may not know when or where their next meal will come from. “Kids struggling to get enough to eat are more likely to have problems in school & other social situations and are at higher risk for health conditions like anemia and asthma,” stated Becky Perrett, Director of Marketing for Runza® National. “As a company in the restaurant industry, we are very aware of the importance of food and basic nutrition in everyone’s lives.”

York Middle School will hold their annual Wax Museum on Tuesday, April 23 at 6 p.m. Come and view the 6th Grade projects and bring your loose change. As the presenters speak, you may drop your change in the paper sack and all donations will be given to the YES Pride Pack Program.

Fillmore County Senior Services will host a Welcome to Medicare presentation in Exeter on Wednesday, April 24 at 6 p.m. The presentation will be held in the Community Room at the Exeter-Milligan School (entrance is across from the football field located in Exeter). If you will be new to Medicare within the next year or are past the age of 65, but looking to retire within the next year, this is a presentation you will not want to miss. Trained SHIP Counselors will be providing creditable, valuable and necessary information to successfully manage the world of Medicare.

The Crossroads Junk & Vintage Market will be held at the Holthus Convention Center in York on Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Vendors from across the region will fill the convention center with vintage and antique items, re-purposed finds, wood and metal, quality handmade items, baked goods, jewelry, clothing and more. Don’t worry about the weather, the entire show is indoors. Admission is $5 (Children 12 and under are free). Come celebrate Arbor Day at the Gresham Library for Spring Story Hour on Saturday, April 27 at 9:30 a.m. Kids can enjoy story time, crafts, snacks and more. Plus each child will get a tree seedling to take home with them.

A Plant Sale will be held at Hampton on Saturday, April 27.

The Village of Waco and the Waco CBO will be sponsoring a clean-up day for residents of Waco on Saturday, April 27 from 8 a.m. until noon. A roll-off dumpster will be provided for the day and will be placed out by the brush pile (This service will be for Waco residents only). Any persons wanting to get rid of items for their yards or garage are welcome to use it. In celebration of Small Business Week the York Area Chamber of Commerce will hand out a booklet highlighting the Down Town Revitalization projects that have been taking place since 2016 and on Thursday, May 2 residents are encouraged to take a self-guided tour of the properties. The YCDC and Chamber are then partnering with the Young Professionals to host Econ by the Pint at Kilgore Memorial Library in York. Nebraska Council on Economic Education speakers will host a lighthearted “econ comedy hour” for an engaging take on economics, helping us make better decisions, financial and otherwise. Nebraska Craft Brewers Guild will provide insights into the economic impact of craft breweries in Nebraska. A fun evening guaranteed! This 21+ event is open to the public. Doors open at 5 p.m. and activities begin at 5:30 p.m. Prizes awarded. Admission is $5 for members of Young Professionals, YCDC or the Chamber at the door. Admission is $10 for non-members at the door.

As part of Economic Development Week GrowNE will be presenting the Tuesday, May 7 lunch and learn at York’s Holthus Convention Center from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The topic will be about effective uses of social media for your marketing plan.

The monthly meeting of the GFWC Seward Woman’s Club will be held on Wednesday, May 8 at 12:30 p.m. at the Seward Memorial Library and will feature a Spring luncheon to celebrate a successful club year! The program will feature the student First Place winners in the GFWC NFWC State Literature Contest, along with reports from the recent State Convention that was held in Seward! Installation of the newly elected club’s 2024-2025 officers! Past State GFWC NFWC State President Jean Kolterman with conduct the installation! Join CASA for York County’s annual Color Run to Run Child Abuse Out of Town fundraising event. Monies raised by sponsors and participants will be used for operational expenses involved in supporting and training current and new volunteer advocates to provide a voice to abused and neglected children in the court system of York County. This is a family-friendly event with snow cones, balloon art, a bounce house, face painting, chalk art and more included with registration!

The Gresham Library’s Annual Fun Run/Walk and Open House will be held on Saturday, May 25 starting at 9 a.m. at 230 Ella Street in Gresham. Come visit, enjoy refreshments and check out upcoming events at the library. Free-will donations encouraged with all proceeds going to the Gresham Library Fund. The York Area Senior Center will sponsor the Chadron Polka Band at the York City Auditorium on Friday, May 31.

Deadline to sign up is May 17 and a fee of $5 will be asked from participants.

Get ready to dance the night away at the Polka Extravaganza on Friday May 31 at 6 p.m. at the York City Auditorium for a night filled with lively music and energetic polka dancing. Kriz and the Polkatoons will be opening the event then Chardon Polka Band will be sharing their unique brand of Polka music. Blended Distillery will be serving beer and moonshine. There will be food served in the North Dining Room. This is a 21+ event. ID’s will be checked at the door. Tickets will be sold online April 1st at Eventbrite. You can also get your tickets at the York Area Senior Center Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tickets will be $20 ($25 at the door). There will be additional charges for food and drink. Get your dancing shoes ready and come join us for a night you won’t forget!
